GP PostgraduateTraining

The Practice

We are a modern dynamic practice comprising 6 GPs covering a population of 7600 patients. We have an active primary care team and a full complement of ancillary staff.

The practice is paperless, has excellent IT facilities and continues to embrace all opportunities to develop and enhance the care we provide.

We run a full compliment of chronic disease clinics and regular minor surgery, contraception, cytology and child health surveillance clinics. We work closely with allied health teams and are an active member of the NCN.

The practice team have a number of extended roles including Dr Oelmann's policital roles at local and national level and Dr Hughes' training roles outside of the practice with Cardiff University and as a CSA examiner with the RCGP.

Location

Cwmbran is less than 20 minutes drive from Cardiff and 5 minutes drive from the M4. It is within easy reach of both Postgraduate Centres at Nevill Hall Hospital, Abergavenny, and the Royal Gwent Hospital, Newport.

The practice comprises modern, spacious purposes built premises with good parking facilities.

Training

Dr Bryan Hughes, Dr Gareth Oelmann and Dr Alison Whyte are the GP trainers at the practice and all members of the Primary Health care team will be actively involved in training during your time at the practice.

Your weekly rota will of course include protected time for teaching and personal development.

We hold regular educational meetings including social evening meetings and you will be welcome to attend and contribute.

You will be encouraged to take part in all aspects of practice life and to become part of the team.
